Kuroshima was once a thriving port town, a settlement of shipowners who traded in Kitamae-bune (northern trade ships). People who set out to sea exchanged goods here, fostering information, culture, and human connections. Even today, the townscape is preserved as an important traditional building preservation district, and traces of that era quietly live on in the town's daily life.

The charm of the old house remains, but the bathrooms and guest rooms are very clean. I was able to relax in the Japanese-style room with a view of the sea, and my travel fatigue was relieved.
